Google Earth Setup

Google Earth offers boaters a unique way to search for slips that allows you to see the waters and geography near available slips. The basic steps are to download and install Google Earth, then add DockMarket as a data provider.

Install Google Earth

  1. Go to http://earth.google.com and click "Download Google Earth". The program is free and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
  2. Install the program according to Google's directions.
  3. Start the program after installing it.

Add DockMarket as a Provider

  1. Click this link to add the DockMarket KML file: http://dockmarket.net/slips.kml.
  2. You will see DockMarket listed under "Temporary Places":

  3. Scroll down to find listings that interest you. Double-clicking a link will "fly" to that listing. Single-clicking a link will pull up the description of the slip.
  4. Look for this icon to find DockMarket-listed slips anywhere on the globe.

  5. When you close Google Earth, it will ask you if you want to keep DockMarket as a provider. If you choose Yes, it will display under "My Places" then next time you start the program.
